Dan Mulvaney: Sell-side Advisor

Dan provides expert guidance to business owners from the initial meeting to closing – a process that often takes years as ownership positions the business and personal situations align. Dan has an ability to understand and summarize complex financial and business topics with clarity, and to counsel business owners with in-depth analyses of valuation, buyers and the marketplace.

Dan works with business owners in a variety of industries. Typical clients generate revenue of $5-$100 million.

Dan’s process is to meet with business owners to understand their goals then comparing these goals to the realities of the marketplace. A plan is created to achieve valuation and timing requirements. Once engaged, the goal is to confidentially find the buyer that most values the business.

In addition to maximizing economics, Sunbelt is often able to attract buyers that align with ownership’s qualitative objectives. Many owners desire qualitative outcomes such as finding a buyer committed to the long-term future of the company’s employees or a buyer who will invest to scale up the business to capture more market share.

Dan’s career includes 20 years in corporate America with positions as COO, CFO, division controller of a Fortune 100 public corporation and multiple board memberships. Understanding the investment requirements and approval processes of strategic buyers allows Dan to effectively communicate with different buyers. His financial background allows for emphasis on his client’s value-drivers in order to negotiate maximum economics.

Strategic buyers all require an internal approval process when acquiring a company; Dan knows how to effectively address each constituency needed to approve a transaction – including the conservative financial people. Buyers appreciate Dan’s knowledge and ability to get them the quality information they need quickly.

If I see somebody that is even thinking about selling their business sometime in the future, Dan Mulvaney is the guy I’d have them talk to first. Primarily because of his efficiency and knowledge in getting a deal done. But, more importantly, if it is taken seriously the value he brings years ahead of a sale in helping a company get ready for that date and amplifying the value that a company has.

–David DeVowe, Owner/Seller of The QC Group

Dan Mulvaney and Sunbelt did an absolutely outstanding job of keeping everyone on track, knowing where the process was at all times and also knowing what the next steps were. Dan’s communication skills, analytical skills and business expertise are second to none.

–Brian Dodd, Owner/Buyer at Theco, Inc.

The sale of our business was very complex because there were several issues with it and it was handled by Dan in such a way that it was just seamless.

–David McGregor, Owner/Seller at Western Roofing Supply

Dan was really a team player for us. He knew what we wanted and fought hard for us. He was always available for me to call to get a quick answer.

–Kris Steinke, Owner/Seller at Energy Solutions International

I would recommend Dan Mulvaney to any business owner attempting to sell his business, for two reasons – One is because of his knowledge of all aspects of a small business, and number two because of his ability to communicate clearly with the owner.
